2025 AGM

On the evening of Thursday 3 July we held our Annual General Meeting at The River Garden.

Following another busy year, there have been some structural changes to the committee. We are delighted to welcome Rhys Chisman to the club as the new Club Secretary, you can reach him on Secretary@FCSteamers.com should you wish. Rhys is a young energetic administrator, who's part of the FA Youth Council and an active referee. Fionn Goodwin-Wright will be staying on as Chairman, and Daniel Philpott has had a slight role change from Adult Chair to Vice-Chair. Anna Larkins steps down from the Secretary role to become the Treasurer. Aaron Perkins also joins the committee as the Sundays Player Rep with all other committee members retaining their place. So, our final committee looks like this:

Chair: Fionn Goodwin-Wright
Vice-Chair: Daniel Philpott
Secretary: Rhys Chisman
Treasurer: Anna Larkins
Committee: Dan Connley, Bryn Hughes, Lee Jackson (Saturday Player Rep), Jon Maslin (Vets Player Rep), Olivia Perkins (Media), Aaron Perkins (Sunday Player Rep) & William 'Dub' Schindler (Veterans Manager).

With that all in place, we look forward to another year of FC Steamers and hopefully it will be an exciting one with the introduction of a new Reserves' side and plenty of other developments.

As always, if you would like to get involved with the running of the club, then please contact Fionn.Goodwin-Wright@FCSteamers.com - we're always on the lookout for additional help!

New Team at FC Steamers!

Following the AGM of the North East Norfolk League last night, held at the excellent Stalham Town FC facilities, we are delighted to announce the expansion of our club with the start of a new Reserve side ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Back where it all started for our Saturday section in North East Norfolk. The team will be under the management of Jack Bishop and Jake Jackson. Jack stepped up to help the Saturdays last season, and Jake is an original Steamer; taking part in our first ever game in 2020. It's great to have both of these guys back in the club on a more formal basis.

What this means:

  • More opportunities for players to represent FC Steamers
  • A clear pathway for young talent into adult football
  • A stronger club identity built on inclusion and progression

The team have been placed in to Division 2, where they will face: North Walsham Town Development, Erpingham, Epringham Res, Reepham, North Walsham Town Social, International Talent, Costessey Sports Reserves, Sprowston Development and MADRA 'A'.

If you are keen to get involved with this new venture, then please get in touch - complete this form and a member of the management team will get in touch with you with details of training and our soon to be confirmed preseason schedule.

Saturday Management Team

We are incredibly pleased to announce our new management team for our flagship Saturday side. Tommy Lovatt & Curtis Fairweather will be taking the reigns with immediate effect.

Tommy & Curtis come in with a wealth of knowledge in the Norfolk Grassroots football - in fact, they managed against us back in our first season in the Anglian Combination when they were in charge of a good Wymondham Town Reserves side.

Plans for preseason are already in place, with training set to start on Wednesday 18 June @ Brundall 3G, 8-9pm. If you want to become a part of FC Steamers then you are more than welcome to attend, just let us know in advance - you can do that by completing this form: Join The Steamers.

It is imperative we place on record our thanks to outgoing manager, Matthew Burgess.  He came in to the role in turbulent times, and steadied the ship & then some, taking home the North East Norfolk League Division 1 title in our first season. Promotion to the Anglian Combination followed and we finished 4th in Division 5 (South) which saw us placed in to Division 3 (South) for the 24-25 season following a restructure in the League.

We are looking forward to this new era for the club, and hope you come along for the ride. Please do give Tommy & Curtis the warmest of welcomes as we look to the future.

Up The Steamers.

Saturday Management Vacancies

A couple of vacancies have become available within our Saturday set up ahead of the 25-26 season. You can find a brief summary of each below.

First Team
Our First team compete in Anglian Combination Division 3 (South). After 2 successive promotions, the team have consolidated their position. We're after a strong, ambitious, individual who will be able to assist in pushing us towards our targets. Our club foundations are strong; we have willing, pro-active committee, who will be able to leave you to concentrate solely on the on-field success of our flagship side. You will play a key role in our continued success.

Reserve Team
The newly formed Reserve side will be looking to compete in the North East Norfolk League. It aims to be a bridge between youth & football as we look to develop the next generation of Steamers. It will be vital for this person to be adaptable to the challenges of running a Reserve side, but could be an excellent first step in to management. We aim to have a clear pathway at FC Steamers and for many this will be their first foray in to Adult football; your ability to mould that experience will be paramount to the success of the side.

If you are interested in either of these positions, then please do get in touch by completing this form: https://forms.office.com/r/ZcR9NednDG

AGM

On Monday 1 July we held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at one of our sponsors, The River Garden on Yarmouth Road.

A number of important matters were discussed which will impact the club as we move forward in to the 2024-25 Season. As well as all the formalities of adopting the various club policies, hearing the annual reports there was also news of a club restructure. This time last year we were a two-team adult club with a support structure that was fit for purpose, since the introduction of our Youth sides we've had to expand our volunteer workforce, and our new Club Structure reflects our recent expansion and will enable us to provide a robust management committee for the running of the club.

As well as the restructure, the clubs move to Colney Lane (UEA) was unamiously voted through and we're delighted to report that the Veterans will be joining us meaning that ALL of our teams playing on a Sunday will call Colney Lane their home.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, then please contact us on Secretary@FCSteamers.com.

Relocation, Relocation!

Nearly all of our teams will be playing their home fixtures at a new venue for the 24-25 season and, as a club, we couldn't be more excited for what the future holds.

After announcing that our Saturday team will be moving to Thorpe St Andrews Recreation Ground we now have news of where the rest of our teams will be playing as we edge closer towards the start of the new season.

Since the inception of our Youth teams in 2023, we wanted a sole base for the club, and we always had Rackheath in mind for that - preparing our migration to the village for much for the previous season; indeed we held club fundraisers there, had our Youth Christmas Party and were looking forward to being an active part of the community. Unfortunately, at the beginning of May we received news that the Rackheath Parish Council would no longer welcome Youth football at their pavilion, despite previous assurances to the contrary, This has led to nigh on 8 weeks of tireless work from the clubs committee with numerous options explored - and finally we have good news to share.

Our home venue for next season will be the University of East Anglia (UEA) - at Colney Lane. An excellent facility which will be able to host all of our youth teams, as well as housing our Adult Sunday side. We will have access to all of the excellent pitches at Colney Lane, so there will be multiple club home games taking place at the same time - helping to build that real club feel.

We couldn't have got this far without the tireless work of Lisa Hamilton (Youth Secretary) & Ian Haydon (Youth Chair) - but special thanks must also go to our friends at Stoke United FC, especially club chair Rob Ward, who helped broker this move.

We look forward to seeing you all soon, as we look forward to another exciting year.
